Heat treatment is applied to all component parts to ensure optimal wear life and toughness. Additionally, link plates and rollers are shot peened for increased fatigue strength, while ball calibrating provides maximum resistance to fatigue failure for the plate hole.

Pre-stressing operations evenly distribute the working load across chain parts, accurately establishing chain length and preventing rapid elongation during the initial run-in period. Running in of the roller chains after final assembly increases resistance to fatigue and prevents initial elongation.
